Over the past few months, we’ve been collecting Podcast recommendations from members of the Scottish tech community. This roundup is a little different, this is all brand new podcasts by the community. Check them out, they’ve all just launched in the last few weeks and would benefit from a listen, your support and your feedback.

Code Craft Cast

Isn’t the alliteration great? Code Craft Cast is by the Code Craft community, you may know them from their software crafters meetup. Code Craft Cast is hosted by Ewa Grabowiecka and Joe Wright, the podcast aims to discuss burning issues facing tech in Scotland with topics such as talent, career paths and upcoming events covered in the episodes.

Episodes are mid-sized, perfect for consuming on your commute.

Gab

One of the most interesting events in Glasgow is the Gab organised by local design studio Jamhot. The events have an eclectic mix of speakers from across ‘creative’ industries so you have graphic designers, digital designers, photographers, videographers, musicians, tech and much more covered in the meetups.

The podcast is a continuation of that with the cofounder of Jamhot, Graeme, hosting the podcasts. The first episode featuring David Keenan who has taken on various roles in his career having worked in music and now being a novelist. It’s great to hear David talk about all sorts of topics from Britney Spears and boxing to cricket within the first 2 minutes moving onto his career in music and selling music globally online just by description.

Like Code Craft Cast, Gab is mid-sized with the first one around 50 minutes long. Again, I reckon that's the perfect length for dropping into on your commute.

Meditative Story

Hands up, I’ve not listened to this one yet, but Meditative Story is by the ultra-talented Rohan Gunatillake. Rohan has taken his talents to produce award-winning apps, card games, books and now the Mediative Story podcast in partnership with Thrive Global.

Here's the blurb on it:

"Meditative Story combines the emotional pull of first-person storytelling with the immediate, science-backed benefits of mindfulness practice. Every week, you’ll receive a new Meditative Story from a storyteller who will transport you to a time and place where everything changed for them — a story you might find yourself relating to deeply. As the story unfolds, mindfulness guide Rohan will offer gentle prompts designed to calm your mind and help you connect with your own observations, empowering you to feel restored and refreshed at any moment of the day"

Bootstrapped Digest

Brought to you by Ashley Baxter, Bootstrapped Digest offers a transparent account of bootstrapping an insurance business as a solo founder. Ashley is currently building Jack, providing business insurance on a first name basis for freelancers. In Bootstrapped Digest, Ashley reflects on the mistakes and wins she’s had throughout her time building her business in a regulated industry. It’s a refreshing insight into the world of building a business as a solo founder, and the short episodes give a great dose of inspiration.
