Ahead of our next Drop In Day this Friday, we’re sitting down with one of the experts who’ll be coming along to offer up their advice on the day. To get us started, we’re chatting to Andrew Sloane from Accelerated Digital Ventures. Accelerated Digital Ventures invest in the most innovative, highest potential, and globally disruptive technology businesses. As Accelerated Digital Ventures' investment lead in Scotland and Ireland, Andrew Sloane works in the local ecosystems to surface digital tech investment opportunities.
Andrew started out running the Scottish Co-Investment Fund at the Scottish Investment bank before moving on to providing legal advice for early stage tech companies and their investors. Now, he’s the co-founder of Accelerated Digital Ventures and a good friend of the RookieOven community.
Why are you passionate about Scottish technology?
I think that Scotland has some really great tech founders, who have the potential to build global, industry defining companies. We want to help them on that journey.
What's your one biggest piece of advice for people in the Scottish tech scene?
What mistakes can people avoid?
Building small and not being led, in all that they do, by the big, long term vision they have for their start up.
What's your vision for the Scottish tech ecosystem?
We've seen a few scale-bigs built in Scotland in recent times, we want to support the development of ecosystem infrastructure & connections and create funding pathways that will allow a lot more to be built by the current and future generations of Scottish tech founders.
