Tell us a bit about what your startup does?

Door-2-Door Luggage Delivery. AiroLuggage offers an affordable alternative to checking in your luggage with the airlines. Unlike the standard process of checking in your luggage we offer a simple and easy digital booking platform, complimentary luggage insurance and live tracking, so you know where your luggage is every step of the way.

What was the inspiration behind your startup?

As a frequent traveller lugging, dragging and carrying heavy suitcases around airport, bus and ferry terminals was a stressful exercise and I thought there must be a simpler and easier way to do this. That's where it all started. Lets put this into perspective, imagine it was the other way around, and the norm was Door-2-Door luggage, how many of you would check-in luggage at the airport? And remember it wouldn't be tracked or insured.

What is your background?

I come from a start-up background, within commercial, operations and general management roles.

Did you always see yourself running your own company?

We all have a burning desire to run our own business, don't we?

What are the biggest challenges you face having your own business?

Keeping tabs and improving all aspects of the business. Starting up requires constant tweaking - leaving no stones unturned, being persistent and looking for issues.

If you could tell your past self one thing, what would it be?

I'm far too young for this question!

Do you have one piece of advice you’d give to people looking to make the jump to self-employed?

If your idea is good and you talk to people who say they like it, then you should check you've got enough money and, with that, time to get it up and running. It will always take longer than you expect. If you don't have enough money I'd suggest finding an investor.
