Most of the focus on the Scottish tech scene is on the major hubs such as Glasgow, Dundee and Edinburgh however this is remiss as there are a loads of talented people across Scotland. For example Ayrshire based Michael Byers; developer of the popular Android app Poker Hands.
Originally released in September 2010, over the following two years Michael has iterated, improved and refined Poker Hands. Adding features such as multiple language support and a basic blinds timer. Poker Hands now has over 60,000 active users, with that number ever increasing. As of now the app features:
- Poker Blinds Timer.
- Official poker hand rank from best to worst.
- A guide to Position Play pre-flop.
- Top 10 Best Starting Hands.
- Top 10 Worst Starting Hands.
- Calculate Out Odds.
- Starting Hand Odds
The Poker Hands feature set is always increasing and Michael is always building from user feedback. If you’re a poker player and in need of some help you should definitely give the app a go. It’s available for free from the Google Play Store.
Michael is also behind TwitAyr, a gathering of local developers, designers and tech enthusiasts. If you’re in the area and fit the bill keep an eye on the TwitAyr website for the date of the next meet.
